Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou born Beaumont, the French city of Puy-deDomme on August 9, 1976. She is the oldest child among four children. Her parents were dentists as well as a teacher recognized and backed her love for theatre and drama at an early age, which superseded an initial desire to become a primatologist thanks to her passion for monkeys. Early success and a rapid increase in recognition marked her as a young actor. Following her studies in 1998 she participated in an French talent-scouting TV programme Jeunes Premiers that was supported by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to launching acting professionally. Tautou was educated at Institut Catholique de Paris, went to church when she was a child and was brought up Catholic. However she is now separating herself from the Catholic tradition. Apart from her acting profession, she has is also pursuing modeling. The model was for L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and is known as "The Chanel Muse". Apart from her acting career she is also interested in photography. She recently exhibited some of her photographs at the Arles Film Festival under the title Superficial. Through her photography, she focuses primarily on celebrity and the spotlight. The camera's focus is on journalists who examined her during her rise to fame in Amelie. Audrey Tautou's global success and fame soared after her role as Amelie Poulain's lead actress in the film Le Fabuleux Destin of Amelie Poulain. Amelie was a film box office successes and was recognized at award ceremonies across the globe. It remains the highest grossing French language film to date in the US. The film's success has led to Tautou being cast in a range of roles, from British dramas like Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
