Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. She began her Broadway career performing in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning director, actors, and producers for most of her career. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film is it is a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in the month of March 2023, when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment proceedings in America for over a century. Ashford was a part of two seasons of the cult CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are amongst her additional Broadway performances. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
